Many SMACC women attend the Cathedral Women’s Bible Study (CWBS) which meets each Thursday morning from 10 til 12 in the Multi-purpose hall.
CWBS exists for ladies to get to know God better through his word and encourage each other in their walk with him. Women from across the cathedral community gather for a short teaching time, small group study and discussion. We finish by sharing prayer points and praying for each other.
In 2012 we looked at a series called “Meeting Jesus in Luke”. We studied encounters between Jesus and various individuals in Luke’s gospel; each time considering what Luke wants to show us about Jesus, how the individual is changed, and how we ourselves are to be responding to Jesus. We also studied Ephesians (10 studies) and Deuteronomy (8 studies). Through Ephesians we were reminded of all that God has graciously done for us in Christ. We were encouraged to remember who we are in him, and challenged to live lives worthy of that calling. In Deuteronomy we encountered the holy God who chooses people for himself. We saw what it would mean for the Israelites to live as his holy people, and were again prompted to give thanks for Jesus, through whom we are called and enabled to be God’s people today.
We want as many women as possible to join us and to make it easier for mums and caregivers we run a fully supervised creche adjacent to the meeting hall. Babies and toddlers are looked after, giving mums some precious time with other women around God’s word. The creche room has baby changing facilities, age appropriate toys and high chairs. Nursing mums are welcome to remain with their groups, or make use of the comfy chairs in the creche.
